Hi, I'm coming up to my AS-Level exams, and seeing that I get way to distracted at home, I'm thinking of revising at school (in our study area). I need something to do in between revision, so I think a book will work well - was thinking of going for either one of the game programming gems books, or GPU Gems 2. What would you suggest? Those GPG books look good because there is a lot of different subjects, but I don't know which to get out of the 6 out... Any other books (maybe a ShaderX one?) ideas also appriciated!

I have Game Programming Gems 1 and 2, and they're both good books. There were a few problems for me (mostly the articles that are more difficult for me to implement have little/no code while those easy to implement have plenty of code), but the books were still VERY helpful in many areas.

I think any of the books you mention (or some in a similar style that you didn't, such as AI Game Programming Wisdom) will teach you a lot and/or give you many ideas on extensions/modifications/etc that will improve the depth and breadth of your game programming abilities.

Pick one of the books that covers an area you're interested in and start reading =-)
