I'd like to visit my brother in Japan, and I'll need to do it either in June or July. I've looked at sites like Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity, and so far Travelocity has given me the best results and also pointed me in the way of student airfare. Have you had good or bad results with any of those sites? Any scams or hidden charges I should look out for? Any particular airlines you hate or like?

I had really good experiences with Expedia. Being able to book flights, hotels, and prostitutes at the same place and pay all at once was really cool. No particular catches that I remember of when it comes to flights. For hotels, watch out for the "number of people in room." Some hotels will charge you more if there are more occupants, so you just rent it as one person and then sneak your friends in. [grin] (The internal fights for the only continental breakfast may harm morale tough.)
I teleported home one night; With Ron and Sid and Meg; Ron stole Meggie's heart away; And I got Sydney's leg. <> I'm blogging, emo style

If you are a student you might want to try Student Universe.

I have found some really good deals on flights through them. You do have to have either a student email account or some way for them to verify that you are a student before you can use any of their services.

Definitely worth it though...I've found rooms in Dublin, Rome, Venice and Athens for about $40 per person per night. Flights are also good too...San Francisco to Paris RT for about $700 (including taxes and fees) which was about $300 cheaper than I could find anywhere else.
