Hi i am doing a billiard in opengl, and i have added sound with openal. I am using visual c++ (visual studio 6). My problem is that when i want to execute billiard.exe, it doesn work, i try to execute it but nothing. I only can execute from vc++, but i would like to know how to execute without it. When i was using just opengl, the .exe worked fine. When i compile i get the .exe, but when i click in it it doesn 't start the application Thank you very much for your help

Might be that the working directories may be different and the necessary OpenAL32.dll is available in only one case. Do you get any kind of error message at all?

Off topic, but do yourself a favor and get the free Visual Studios 2k5... VC6 has serious issues.

No, i don't get any message of error or warning. Should i include the dll in the same executable directory?. can it be because it doesn't link it with the openal32 directly? I just can use visual c++ because it is a project of the university, and they told us to use this one.

Thank you very much again for your help

In most commerical products I have seen that use OpenAL, they tend to include the OpenAl32.dll in the same directory as the main executable. This is really to ensure that you are using the .dll your application was built against.

It also saves the end user from having to install OpenAL.

Maybe it's not finding whichever file it is you're trying to open and play with OpenAL?

Ok, i found the problem, i 've had to add the audio directory to the debug directory too, where the .exe was.

Thank u very much for your help
