Just downloaded the trailer from here. I've been following the development of this title, and I'm loving where Gas Powered Games is going with it, I think online play will just be amazing, unless they decide not to develop it. None the less, if it comes with just a solo campaign and a map editor, I'll be one happy camper! [wink]
Yes, this is a game I don't just want I NEED... its mildly annoying that it appears just as I'll be reaching crunch time in my degree... much like NWN2 is appearing just as I enter my third year.. its almost like they are saying they want me to fail...
I'm thinking I'll pass on that game, unless I see more in the way of interface.
It also looks more like what WWIII would be if it was back in the 1950s (and they somehow had multi-ped walking robots,...) mass slug fest that is more about our producing the other guy and getting larger waves of mindless cannon fodder running towards the other's base.
Now, if the player's units have some kickass AI and squad level commands (order the units in group X to hold area Z. Order 50 units of infantry to group with 10 tanks, and the lot of them get selected with one mouse click, give them orders to form a battle line with one click drag. etc) then I'll be all over the game. (that is, after I upgrade to a better computer I think)

Couldn't of put it better myself:
I'm just hoping the new/next C&C game is also worth the wait/money.

Is there something exciting about this game that I missed in the trailer?
I forget the details, but the owner of the IP/name isn't doing much with it so the creator of the original TA (Chris Taylor?) went off to work on the spiritual successor - "Supreme Commander".
So many good memories from the original TA - and this looks like it'll allow me to enjoy the good times once more...

Huh? It looks like just another RTS to me, albeit a very pretty one. Is there something exciting about this game that I missed in the trailer?
you can honestly tell me that the trailer didn't blow you away?

I dunno, it's certainly very cool looking, but the trailer didn't really show anything unique gameplay-wise. That's not to say that it isn't potentially a very fun game, but... I just find it pretty hard to get excited over graphical fanciness alone anymore, and that's all the trailer was really showing off.

Yep, trailer looks fun to watch, but actually PLAYING the game, looks less than impressive. also found TA less than impressive, wasn't that bad, but was lacking a lot.

I know I can. It looks like any RTS except on a scale where you will have to click so much that your wrists will literally implode. Or an RTS where the units behave by themselves and your only role is to build a base faster than your opponents.
The only thing I'm worried about is how they are going to handle population. IMO, EA Games ruined C&C Generals (Which bares alot of resemblance to SC) by threading and prioritizing the CPU.
I can't explain just how lame it is when you charge 200 laser tanks against a castle of turrents only to find that not one of your laser tanks get a shot off because the processing to move the laser tank's barrel exceeds that of the turret's (I'm seroius, I had tanks circling the turrets and they weren't ***r*ki*g shooting! Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, I think I did manage to kill one turret).
Hail my great metal monstrosity!

Apparently a lot of work has gone into the level of management you can adopt. If it floats your boat to go micromanage all units, then you can - but if you prefer the hands-off approach wherein you direct the battle from afar you can go with that too.
How it'll work in practise is anyone's guess, but it certainly looks cool to me =)
