Hello all, i am trying to make the [MDX/C#] Overlay sample work for my nvidia card, which uses the fourcc UYVY format instead of the RGB in the example. I managed to succeed in displaying overlay images ( YAY :D ) after trying for the last few nights (i am completely new to d3d/ddraw, so had to learn that as well). but i am still failing on one particular issue: transparency (or opacity). The code available in Muhammad's example doesnt work for my graphics card (or YUV in general?), but i refuse to believe that it is not possible to have some (basic) transparency. Can anyone help explain to me if/how i can apply transparency to my image? Please let me know if you need my full graphic cards capabilities, but here are the ColorKeyCaps ones: SourceOverlayYuv: False SourceOverlayOneActive: True SourceOverlayColorSpaceYuv: False SourceOverlayColorSpace: True SourceOverlay: False SourceDrawYuv: True SourceDrawColorSpaceYuv: False SourceDrawColorSpace: True SourceDraw: False NoCostOverlay: True DestinationOverlayYuv: False DestinationOverlayOneActive: True DestinationOverlayColorSpaceYuv: True DestinationOverlayColorSpace: True DestinationOverlay: False DestinationDrawYuv: False DestinationDrawColorSpaceYuv: False DestinationDrawColorSpace: False DestinationDraw: True Accidentally i created some code that did the oposite btw (replace i.e. the black on my screen with my overlay, by replacing the KeySourceOverride to KeyDestinationOverride), which strengthens my believe that it should be possible ;) Thanks for any input :D [Edited by - B-ManNL on June 4, 2006 4:18:30 PM]

Btw, i have been searching for options for a while, but it seems that DirectDraw still is the only option to create (flicker free) overlay over every app (also exclusivemode fullscreen apps) besides d3d9.dll stub/proxy/hook correct?
And there is no successor in direct3d for overlay, is there?

Does someone happen to know applications that do overlay's? Maybe i can examine them to find out if they have a solution to my problem :)

Any programs are welcome please :)
