hi friends I'm searching for a nice water/ocean effect, I'm working on a strategy type game and I need an effect for surrounding my island, something like the water in Pirates (Sid Mier), or anything else, please guid me through the usage process, as I've tested several effects and I've had some problems in using them (for example Pocean from Nvidia). I'm preferably looking for a complete project (DX 9/VC) which uses the water/ocean effect. thanks again

What problems have you had? Sometimes it can be tricky to use the right matrices, since some of the semantics aren't the most helpful. Here seems to be a thread about the same thing.

Beyond that, some more resources:

(1) The ShaderX and Game Programming Gems each have some decent water articles in them (I remember ShaderX2 had my favorite of them). If you happen to have them lying around, take a look.

(2) Check out the Graphics Forum FAQ. It has a section just on water.

(3) Search GDNet. There are many, many forum posts, along with some great articles. The best one: Realistic Water Rendering.

(4) Check ATI Developer sites.

thanks, how can I find something from ShaderX (2) or Gems, I don't have such books, but I've heard they have some really cool stuffs, I've even tested nVidia FX Composer but I couldn't do anything special.

thanks again

Buy them.
