Decrease in spam lately?

Has anyone else noticed a large decrease in the rate of spam lately? I have a spam trashcan i use to train SpamAssassin on occasion. I noticed it's growth has slowed to a trickle in the last few weeks. Not that i mind or anything!

I've been getting a major spike in spam as well. I often get 3 or 4 copies of the exact same message sent at the exact same time, which is bloody annoying - especially since I have several mailboxes, and each box gets hit multiple times.


Makes me want to go get all Boondock Saints on someone's ass.

I've been getting gmails with just images of text on what stocks to buy, or empty emails with said images attached. It's bloody annoying.

I've started receiving Japanese spam in my GMail spambox... I suspect it's because my Sloplifter game is starting to become popular in Japan (I get about 120 downloads a week from there) and so their spambots are trolling my site.

I can't read the spam, so I don't know what it's selling. Every time I delete it I worry it's some sort of fan letter promising me nubile Japanese girlfriends, but Babelfish always tells me it's obscene spam selling me things. [crying]

I had the same dramatic decrease in spam a month or two ago. Before then I got 5 to 20 daily, now I get 1 or 2 per week! Could be some ISP thing going on. I'm on comcast.

I noticed a massive decrease in spam recently.. but it turned out my domain had expired so the address they were sending all the spam to didn't exist.

I get spam but I am no longer certain it's trying to sell me anything nowadays. It's just random gibbirish.

I get spam about pirated software and lic3nsed meedss 4sale oonline for chee@p. It's been increasing, but the spammers seem to have found my university's mailing lists [sad]

I think it's just a massive Bayesian filter poisioning operation, i.e. They're hoping you'll mark the '????' mails as spam.

I get many stocks spams too lately

what's the point of those, are they trying to change the stock market in their favor by mass-mailing wrong information?

if so a counter attack would be stock spams that claim exactly the opposite :)

i never get spam, except when some moron friend of mine puts my email adress on some retarded list, but those are rare.

use hotmail. seriously, ive never had a single problem with it in my life.

I received my first spam message today, and I have really no clue where they got my mail add. from :(

I used to run my own SMTP server, and had a different e-mail address for every site I visited, and all of them just forward to my primary account. That lets me know what site my e-mail address has been crawled from.

Unfortunately, most of the spam went direct to my primary account, since my friends kept signing me up for crap (E.g. Bebo).

I got a GMail account early on (a classmate got hired by Google) and ended up with a nice account name. Then some guy contacted me offering to trade the account for other email accounts.

I stupidly replied to him saying no, and a few days later began getting spam from the same IP block :( I've had spam ever since.

I'm on comcast too. That might be what it is then.

My spam continues to be terrible. Outlook's filter does a good job of catching most of the evilness, but it's not customizable enough for my tastes.
