i like skinning some programs by going into dlls and changing some of the pictures. in most cases, the images are held in the dll and are easily accessible. however, one of the libraries im using doesn't have the images im looking for in the dll, and it might be in the lib files before compilation. is it possible to view and or edit *.lib files? I've found that editting dlls are very easy, but is it possible to get into lib files, and if so, do you know any software that can do it?

Static libraries are, as the name suggests, statically linked. Post-build, anything the app uses from the library is built directly into the executable. So, modifying a lib post-build won't help you (and I'm surprised you even have access to them); you need to modify the executable instead.

Are you sure the data you're looking for isn't just in a data file though?
