A quick question, does anyone have any examples / help for allowing an embedded python interpreter to access methods in the core program? Ideally I want to load a dll/so into the core program and have the python modules be capable of accessing this (dlls and pythons scripts will have requirements on each other so the methods will be known in advance). I was originally going to use a shared dll between the c++ program and the python script however this would seem to generate two instances of the dll (different data/running areas, same actual dll) making communication slightly more difficult. Any thoughts?

You typically have to expose those methods to Python. This is typically known as 'binding' them, and some packages to help you do this are noted in the Forum FAQ.
