Hi all, Im using the OpenInventor API and VRML models with ImageTexture nodes. My problem is that the loading of large image textures seems to be taking a long time. I was just wondering what the best approach to preloading all of my image textures would be. I am specifying the filename in the VRML 'url' field dynamically based on an XML input. With OIV you can make native OpenGL calls but i dont think this will help at all since im not actually creating OpenGL textures out of the images. Thanks, -J NB:Im using an SGI Onyx 3400 so i have plenty of GBs of RAM for storage.

The general approach is to load all of your textures when the app begins and store handles to the textures in some sort of resource manager that would essentially be a wrapper around some sort of container class (stl objects may be good enough for your needs).

Hope that helps, need any more details and let me know.
