I am designing a site that uses javascript for a tooltip. However, when my site is opened in internet explorer, a security warning about "displaying active content" is shown. However, other sites use javascript (or I guess in this case jscript?) without the warning. I don't want my harmless site to display this, so what steps should I take to calm internet explorer down? edit: it was only because it was being run locally. when uploaded it worked fine.

I think that warning is coming up because you are opening a local file. Have you tried opening your page on an actual web server?

You'll find that the thing which Microsoft call a "tooltip", is trivially implemented using the HTML title attribute.

i.e. without any javascript.<br><br>Mark

To disable this message for javascript in local HTML files:

Go to Control Panel => Internet Options => Advanced tab
Locate the setting "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" and check it.
