I hoped you enjoyed my article and I did a update with Direct X 8 and it is located at http://bsdev.cjb.com I know I did not discuss error correction or handling but in the update article that is handled.

Also any errors or typographical errors send them to goldfinger8@ignmail.com

Hi Gods of DirectX and Lucky People who could set up DirectInput successfully!

I'm trying to use DI8 about 3 days now and it just not working. I included the dinput.h linked dinput8.lib and dxguid.lib and it gives linker errors:

Error: Unresolved external '_c_dfDIMouse' referenced from C:\BORLAND\PROJECTS\BREAKOUT\DXINPUT.OBJ
Error: Unresolved external '_c_dfDIKeyboard' referenced from C:\BORLAND\PROJECTS\BREAKOUT\DXINPUT.OBJ

So I searched the net for solution and find that i should define INITGUID and DIRECTINPUT_VERSION 0x0800 before the include of dinput.h. This and other things worked for others but I keep getting these errors...

Any idea?

I just keep my opinion that what comes from Microsoft just not working and DirectX is crap. Actually anything isn't written by me can't be good enought... :D Sorry but I keep getting nothing from things programmed by others.

Using a Borland compiler probably isn't helping you much - checking a borland-specific tutorial might get you pointed in the right direction.

Thx for the reply. I'll check the link, but the point is that we want to build things what can work anytime anywhere with anything now days and just look at what we have. Instead we forgot how to program becouse we can download anything for our needs and we don't need to optimize becouse the user will by a new PC if he wants to play our game or anything. We make libraries that have DoIt() and it will do anything we want and don't need to go to the low-levels. Sorry but I really don't like now days programming philosophy. This is the first time I wanted to use someone elses library just becouse anyone can write a simple game with it in about a day...

Not being able to link to a very commonly-used system library does not indicate that modern programming paradigms are broken - it merely indicates that you have limited experience. Times change, and you have to move with them...
