I recently installed visual studio 2005 express and then downloaded the latest directx sdk from microsoft.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C72D9F1E-53F3-4747-8490-6801D8E8B4EF&displaylang=en that really long link. :-D I then go to create a new windows project. Click add reference then I click com scroll down to directx8 for Visual Basic type... and then click okay. (i don't have these checkboxes everyone else is talking about.) I then go back and click add reference again then click .NET tab, scroll down then select Microsoft.DirectX and click okay again. So now in my mind I have the appropriate references. So I then go and type Dim directx as Directx However, my compiler is convinced directx isn't a current namespace. What gives? I've googled, I've searched forums, I've pleaded with it...help? :-D

I've never done DirectX in visual basic before, though I have in C++. When you're doing a C++ project, you have to setup your project's Include and Linker directories to the DirectX SDK folders. I'm not sure if there's something like that that you have to do in VB, but I'd look into it.
