Hi, I want to use dynamic lightmaps in the game that I'm writing. I'm a bit stuck though as I'm using multitexturing, so I have my texture map on my first texture unit and my lightmap on my second texture unit. What do I need to do if I want to use a dynamic lightmap texture? I can't put it on the second texture unit as I'll then lose my lightmaps. Does anyone has any suggestions? Thanks Richard

Do your dynamic lights as a secondary pass using additive blending.

Idealistically thought, you want to be able to combine all of your diffuse lighting in the one shot before multiplying it with your base texture though, but that depends on what kind of scene you are going for.

Presuming you have a static lightmap pass also, I would suggest:

1. Static lightmap pass
2. Additive blend dynamic lightmaps
3. Modulate diffuse textures

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a try.

Most modern graphic cards support at least four unit multi-texturing. Only olders ones are limited to two, and you could always forgo the dynamic lighting for those as the "price" for having an older card.
