Computer overheating?

Original Post
I feal there is a lot of heat from the computer power source component. My bios showed: CPU temp 52c MB Temp 45c CPU Fan speed 5000RPM All fans are working. Do I have a problem? Thanks in advance.
That's kind of warm for idle but you're not nearly hot enough to break anything.
If it's any consolation my video card idles at 60C [disturbed].

The thing is, if I touch the top of the computer boxy(container? the thing in which you put your computer), specificaly above the power supplier its pretty hot.
Unlike my other computer which is cool to the touch.
What can it be?

That's a good sign that your power supply is struggling to supply enough current, or it may just have too much dust in it. What wattage is it and how many / what sort of components are in your system?
It could very be the dust.
Its not a new computer and it worked like this for a long time.
The MB temp after I let the computer cool down is now 33.
What is MB temp?
I will try to remove some dust and see if its better.
The thing is, I lost the bolts of its lid, so I closed the lids without the bolts. Which could have led for a lot of dust perhaps.
But I will check what power supplier it is anyway.

CPU normal temperature could be 49 C. if AMD it should be under 55 C, if Intel it should be under 60 C. (Intel reference states that authomatic CPU hald process would start at 130 C, after that it would wait at signal from MB it's safe to continue... If MB still exist... ^_^)
MB temperature is often between 35 - 40 pasive cooled. Newer computers might have higher, because there is higher strain on the chipset.
Fan running at 5000 RPM is something outrageous, does it have sound of a starting helicopter? If so and it's standard cooler, try to get something better, and you should remove dust from the CPU cooler. Some of them tends to acumulate a LOT of it.
It's more look like a badly ventilated case, or a hot room.

Wow, My CPU right now is idling at 32c and usually never goes about ~45c when playing games like Oblivion at full settings. I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800(2.0Ghz)

Athlon's usally run at a much lower temp than intel cpu's (though in my experiance are actually easyer to burn out)
Yes, as a rule of thumb, but you might want to look at the "Core 2 Duo" series. The Conroe Extreme Edition can be overclocked to ~6 ghz on stock cooling. That's efficient.
But yes, the Athlon series usually runs cooler than the P4 line of processors.
(Am I the only one who just calls them "Conroe"? I don't like Apple's new names for intel processors.)
I did some dust cleaning with compressed air, and now the power supplier seem to be only a little bit hot.
Although there wasnt too much dust inside the computer.
Anyway, when I did that I forgot to write down the power supllier details, so never mind about that for now.
Thanks for the help.
