VC++ Express "release"

I have VC++ Express Edition. My question is: If I compile something with the "release" option, will it run faster than if I compile it with the regular "compile" of DevC++ ? Thanks.

Release will probably run faster than debug builds. You have to check if Dev-Cpp was adding debugging information into the executable. It probably will, because Microsoft has one of the best optimizing compilers out there.
