When I ran my program under debug it ran fine but when I ran it with release I got: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0008954e Why? And how do I know what line the error is at if in debug it works?

Crashes in release mode which work fine in debug are usually down to:
1. Uninitialised memory
2. Uninitialised memory
3. Race conditions

I'd guess 1. [grin] Even though it's a release build you should still be able to run it in a debugger. Step though it and find the actual line it crashes on, and go from there. Mostly likely you're reading from an invalid pointer or reading outsides of the bounds of a c-style array.

Edit: number 4 would be 'asserts with side effects'. But you wouldn't be stupid enough to do that, would you?
