Hello all. Ive been messing around with 2d programming with allegro for about a year now. I now would like to learn how to make a basic 3d game. I read on the net that GLUT for openGL would be the way to go. Could anybody give me some tips/good net sites to get me started. Ive read some basic examples, but i find the whole rendering thing complicated. It seems alot harder than the 2d allegro blitting method.

Here's a glut tutorial as well. Good luck! And don't be afraid to ask questions (provided you've made a reasonable attempt at finding the answer first).

Don't be affraid of 3D. After you get some experience you'll understand that's more natural than bliting 2D bitmaps. For example you have to understand what does the screen resolution mean. In 2D it's space where you are blitting bitmaps with pixel size. In 3D it's detail. You use normal meters (or whatever normal lenght units) and don't think about resolution. It's the basic difference how I feel that. (It doesn't mean that object size on screen doesn't matter at all, but it's for later 3D programming and optimalization)

I hope that it'll help a little...
