I don't know, however, how this works, so: lets say I win the bid, what guaranties do I have that the seller is going to send me the ticket?
Thier rating is a good judgement. Look at his rating. I wouldny buy from someone with less than %90 positive ratings. If they have no ratings at all theres a chance that account was made just to rip you off. If he has some good, and some bad ratings read the comments on why he was givin a bad rating and see if you feel alright with buying from that person.
Oh man, I've almost had enough of ebay at the moment. I've been trying to buy an oscilloscope off ebay for about the past month, and I've now resigned myself to just buying a new one. I was very nearly ripped off by someone - although granted it was really my fault for bidding anyway - the guy had no feedback yet, and accepted only bank transfers. Apparently the username was a part of a string of them scamming people (items were re-appearing throughout the users after they had been sold). Luckily I was informed of this by another user before I gave him the money, and I raised the issue with ebay. The other times I've been sniped, which just pisses me off. If you use paypal though - which I really must say you should do - you're insured for up to £500.
Careful about reading everything. My mate decided to click on the Buy Now button for a guitar that was being sold- he though it was a good deal at 99p. Turns out it was over 200 pounds shipping.
I'm sure that frequently happens though.

Yeah, try actually getting that money from them.
If the seller doesn't have a lot of feedback, you can always request personal information like an address and/or phone number. Most legit people don't have a problem with giving it out. They are entitled by law to give you a product that you pay for, if you don't trust that they will send it, you can also use an escrow service, but it will cost you a little extra. Basically you give the money to escrow, they send it to escrow, when they have both, they forward the money and the product. If it's never sent you pay a small fee but get your money back.

What, your friend didn't think there was something up with a guitar that was 99p?
