hello, I am trying to get 3 viewports (front, left and right views from a walking pedestrian) on 1 monitor such that the "side views are skewed into the distance as if you are looking into a cube". I was advised to "render the 3 views to a texture and render that texture to a cube which is used to view the scene." I only know the basics of Opengl. Could anyone please direct me to any relevant tutorials on this topic? just wondering...since the views will always be changing (as the pedestrian is walking, i'll have to keep "rendering the 3 views to a texture". complicated? well... am totally lost...

Hi Deception666,

Thanks for your response.

I tried to understand your program but still couldn't make head or tail of it. I'd like to clarify the following points:

1) Do I need any special hardware/software to do cube map texturing? (Am running opengl on Linux)

2) The examples use load-in photographs. In my case, the pedestrian's environment is created on screen using opengl. Can I use glPerspectives to get the various pedestrian's views on several viewports and convert these viewports to textures to be mapped onto the internal walls of the cube?

3) Cube mapping seems complicated. Could I use the normal texture mapping method onto the six sides of cube using the viewports as textures?

If possible, could u explain to me how it could be done. Any advices is greatly appreciated.
