Hi! I have got the following problem: When my device is lost I call TestCooperativeLevel() in a loop until D3DERR_DEVICENOTRESET is returned. Then I reset the device by calling device->Reset(d3dParameters). But the reset function fails (it does not return S_OK). I use D3DPOOL_MANAGED for all textures and vertex buffers (I searched for D3DPOOL_DEFAULT in the whole project but it was not found). Therefore I think that I do not have to reset any resources. Is there anything else I have to do before Reset() can be called? What can be the rearon for this problem? I read somewhere in the DirectX documentation that this problem can be caused by driver problems. However, I tested the project on 2 different PCs with the newest drivers being installed. Therefore I do not think that it's a driver problem. Thanks in advance! rgds

Are you using the exact same present parameters for the device reset as you used for the original device creation? Otherwise the settings may simply lead to an invalid device.

In any case: turn D3D debug mode (through control panel). It will output lots of debug information during your application's execution. This will help a lot in figuring out what has happened.

You must also release any additional swap chains, render targets, and depth/stencil surfaces you may have created since these reside in video memory.
