Hi guys, I want to start a major portal rendering project soon. The largest problem I have ofcourse is getting the world into a format I can use it while still being able to edit it in max. So lets say this is the format I want, it is very basic and I suppose .max already has the parent->childing that I need

Room(Object)
   - Polygons
       - Texture
       - Vertex
           - UV,Normals,Position Vector(absolute or relative doesn't matter)

So basically I need to load a bunch of objects which all just contain simple plainar faces (can be more than 3 edges). Does any1 have any experience in this area. And I also need to be able to set a FLAG for each polygon (much like quake3's flag), so what will be the easiest. Other extras like bsp generation would be excellent though. I don't want to use an existing format that can be either directly loaded into maya or max. THanks in advance.

Hi dawidjoubert,

you could write your own export/import script with maxscript. But notice that if you import again, you only have pure editable mesh data.
Btw, i would use vertex/poly/normal/uvw-lists instead of the structure you proposed.
