Alright, I'm making an RSS feed for my site, but when I ran it through FeedValidator and I got this message: Your feed appears to be encoded as "UTF-8", but your server is reporting "US-ASCII" In the XML file I state the encoding is UTF-8, btw. On that same site, it says to change the HTTP Content-Type header to UTF-8, but I have no idea what header to change. In case it matters, I have this on my homepage: FeedValidator doesn't care about that though, because all it looks at is the xml file itself. As you can see, I'm a total nub to this stuff. What should I do?

I'd say you have to use mod_headers in your .htaccess file to send the appropriate content-type value.

Alternatively, if your RSS feed is served through PHP, you may want to use the header function to send that value.

On my site, I added "AddDefaultCharset utf-8" to my .htaccess file to make the default for all files utf-8. You might need to use "AddDefaultCharset On" to enable that feature, or even mod_mime to specify per-extension charsets.
