Hey all, trying to set up file sharing on a network on Windows. I have a desktop and laptop on the same network, their ip addresses being 192.168.2.2 & 4. I have enabled a folder for file sharing on each machine, using: right click->Sharing & Security->Enabling it manually. For some reason my PC can see my laptops folders, but the laptop gets address not found when i do: //192.168.2.2 in explorer. Has anyone had this problem and knows what i might have missed or disabled. Thanks, Dave NB: To those confused, i accidentally deleted it just then :P

I had the exact same problem, which for a long time wrecked my head. In the end, I had to set my firewall to allow all traffic from the local network.

I hate firewalls [wink] What confuses me is that by default you can't browse to another computer with Windows Firewall on, yet you connect to it with MMC (with which you can disable the firewall - how handy)

I have just found that it is the windows firewall, even though the settings on both machines appear to be the same.
