A few years ago, while working for a school, I was asked to write an introductory article about computers. I wrote it and it's been languishing on my hard drive ever since in the vain hope that I'll get around to fleshing it out into a complete book. I still intend to do this, but it struck today that it would make a useful starting point for anyone wishing to embark on programming, but who had yet to take the first steps. (E.g. people like this.) It is about 16 A4 pages in length in PDF and can be downloaded from my website here. It's the first listed sample, entitled "An Alien On My Desktop". I should stress that this has already been used as a handout for students who are new to computers. It is _not_ intended as an intro to programming as such, focusing instead on how computers 'think'. I am willing to hand this over to GDNet, suitably reformatted if required, for the Resources section. Regards,

It definitely sounds interesting. You can post a thread straight to the ERB forum and we'll try to ramp back up on editorial.
