Hi The problem I have is that I am running the same DirectX Application on two different machines with same processor and GPU configration and I m getting different FPS.I have Nvidia GPU 6600 on both the machines.Anyone have idea what might be the problem and should FPS be same on both machine or it may vary PC to PC. thanks and regards.

If the machines are the EXACT same, then they should be running atleast nearly identical FPS, however, many things can affect their rates. I.e., memory, bus speed, hdd speed, monitor refresh rates, overclocking (on gpu), amount of ram, etc. Driver versions can also impact frame rate. Check on that, too.

In addition to things F1N1TY pointed out, another cause might be vsync and monitor refresh rate. First of all, a lot of the newer driver configuration apps allow you to enforce vsync (ie. PresentInterval. One) on your games, so if that feature is enable on one pc and not on the other, this might be causing different framerates. Another issue might be monitor refresh rate when using vsync, if one monitor runs at 60Hz and the other at 75Hz, your framerates obviously will be different as well.

Exactly what are you framerates on both machines? If you're talking about 500+ fps, the differences aren't all that meaningful. For more info on why this is, check out this article on fps vs frame time.

I've had a couple of issues with monitors. Try plugging the same monitor into each computer and testing. Does the DirectX app use MSAA by chance?
