Hello, I have read "The C PL" by Dennis & Ritchie and "The C++ PL" by Stroustrup from the library of my university, so I don't have them. The Stroustrup's book didn't like me too much. Now I want to buy my own C++ books among: C++ books: --------------- Accelerated C++: Practical Programming by Example Thinking in C++, Volume 1 C++ Primer Plus C: The Complete Reference, 4th Ed. Professional C++ (Programmer to Programmer) C++ Primer 4th ed. C++ in a Nutshell Advanced C++ design books: -------------------------- Exceptional C++ More Exceptional C++ Exceptional C++ style Effective C++: 55 Specific Ways to Improve Your Programs and Designs Thinking in C++, Vol. 2: Practical Programming C++ Coding Standards: 101 Rules, Guidelines, and Best Practices Modern C++ Design: Generic Programming and Design Patterns Applied Considering I am an intermediate C++ programmer, what 3-4 books would you recommend me? (I will also buy "Code Complete 2".) (I already have read all user reviews in amazon and I've discarted this 14 books among others.) THANK YOU A LOT!!!!

The only three C++ books I own are the C++ Programming Language, Effective C++ and More Effective C++. I got a lot out of Effective C++ and the Stroustrup book is just there as an offline reference. I would recommend Effective C++ but other then that, try to stay away from language specific books. Books like the Pragmatic Programmer and Code Complete that are applicable across languages are most likely a better investment.

I understand you have Effective C++ and More Exceptional C++, haven't you?

What about "More Exceptional C++"? (It is similar to Effective C++ I think)

I have also found some interesting series books, "Write Great Code".

I agree with your thoughts at all, but I also need to get deeper in C++ anyway.

Thank you ;)

I have Effective C++ and More Effective C++. I can't recommend the second one, it doesn't provide nearly as much information as the first one.
