I''m having a problem with his first program, FreakOut on "Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus." I can''t seem to get it compiled using VC++ 6.0. The game uses freakout.cpp, blackbox.cpp, and blackbox.h all of which are included in my Win32 application. (If only I had written down the errors). Ah well, I figured I''d give it anyways and see if anyone knows what I''m talking about.

You''re going to have to post the errors if you expect an answer.

Here goes:

--------------------Configuration: FreakOut - Win32Debug--------------------
Compiling...
blackbox.cpp

c:\keith\freakout\blackbox.h(34) : error C2146: syntax error : missing '';'' before identifier ''lpdd''

c:\keith\freakout\blackbox.h(34) : fatal error C1004: unexpected end of file found freakout.cpp

c:\keith\freakout\blackbox.h(34) : error C2146: syntax error : missing '';'' before identifier ''lpdd''

c:\keith\freakout\blackbox.h(34) : fatal error C1004: unexpected end of file found
Error executing cl.exe.

FreakOut.exe - 4 error(s), 0 warning(s)

I really appreciate the help. The code was written by Andre LaMoth himself, and was burnt onto a CD for the readers to reference to. It is bugless, so I know it cannot be the actual code. I''ve taken about 3 years of highschool programming, and it''s always the linking errors I have a problem with.

LaMothes'' books just suck bad. Probably the example sources are full of errors as usual.

Hermit, did you ever find an answer to your question? I just ran into the same thing this morning.

I''m not positive, but I think that may have something to do with precompiled headers. Try this in VC++ 6.

Go to Project menu
select Settings
go to C/C++ tab
under Category pulldown list select Precompiled Headers
select the Not Using Precompiled Headers radio button

Please let me know if this works.
