I am trying to learn Java on Emacs with Windows XP. I have managed to get the precompiled Emacs on to the computer but I dont know how to get it to work with Java. Does anyone know how to do this?

Oh yeah?! I'm trying to learn OCAML with flipping switches on an Altair. It's not going well either.

Do you mean use Emacs as an IDE? If not, open file with Emacs, write your code, save your file, then (I don't use java but I'm guessing it's something like this)
> java savedfile

If you are going to use Emacs as an IDE someone else will have to help but I would think one of the dedicated java IDEs would maybe be a bit better for that, or at least easier to use.

(Unless the problem was getting Emacs to run...I don't think we got the question to be honest.)
