I'm searching for a rather particular bit of hardware. I need an external hard drive enclosure, which has a straight hookup to the network, either through ethernet or wireless. I've found hundreds of products like this but I don't need the damn drive included. Then i've found a couple of products like this but why in the world would I want a damn two drive enclosure?! I just want a single external networked drive enclosure.. Is it to much to ask? Looks like it is.

Nice try, but not a complete cigar - it looks like a real nice bit of kit, but it's not available in the UK.

here's a corrupted jpg as a consolation prize.

Oh, it is at the right price. Wink wink, nudge nudge, get an American buddy to buy you one and send it over...

I use a Netgear one with two drives, it works well enough although I've had trouble with the broadcast-based protocol and OpenVPN. It's a little squirrely. Two drives afford you the option of mirroring.

Arhar, many thanks! As your reward I'll refrain from posting another corrupted jpg.

A Kurobox/Linkstation is a good idea -- not only is it NAS, but it is also a Linux box so you can install Subversion or a web server.

Seconded. They're a great little piece of kit, I've just managed to get Subversion with SSH access configured on mine. [grin] Good price too.
