[web] RegExp actionscript extension

I have heard of a class called RegExp that extends Actionscript's ability to manipulate strings. It is not native to Flash so I was wondering how to use it. Do I have to just put an include "RegExp" in my AS file or is something more required.

Can anybody help? I have downloaded the Reg Exp AS2 class file by Joey Lott. I have placed the AS file in the classes folder. When I tested the code with
var test:RegExp = new RegExp("abc")
trace(test)

All I see is Object(object)

I am using Flash 8.
