Design and program a format? I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by this.

These are pretty wide requirements. Any particular programming language?

  • Am I to understand from this that you're only looking for a single developer?
  • What exactly do you mean by 'format for existing video games.'

Quote:
Compensation:
60% revenue share
  • So payment is a share of profits, there's nothing up-front?

  • So are there any artists on the team? If not, is the programmer you're looking for expected to also produce graphics assets? What about audio?
  • Does your existing team have anyone useful? I'm not meaning to offend, but from that list it would appear that your existing team is completely incapable of actually producing a product until you're able to bring additional developers on board; do I therefore understand correctly that the developer you're hiring will basically be producing the game(s) alone?
  • You list a C.E.O and Vice President, does this mean you represent a registered company?
  • What programming language(s) and/or tools do you expect an applicant to be experienced with?

  • Sorry, but you're simply not going to get any useful replies unless you give out at least some information. There are plenty of other projects out there that are happy to tell people what they'll actually be working on and who they'll be working with - you'll find that anyone worth hiring won't bother trying to find out information about your project if you don't get thier interest up-front, and you're certainly not going to get anyone to sign a contract unless they know what they're getting in for.

Let me clear up some things that were maybe not mentioned or overlooked.
A few questions were posed to me regarding the ad. After conferring with the
the technical people again, which is not my field, the ad should have read:

IN ERROR: the ad should have read, "Need top notch game /Programmer/developer to design a program for exisiting or new video games

First of all, we are in need of ONE Developer at the moment-I did'nt imply
there was only one working with us- (just following the format)

Secondly, capital for the project is funded, if the specs are met.
(We did not ask for capital from the developer in this ad)
The will be no contract signed until all aboard plus attorneys have reviewed
all paperwork. (or your atty).
60% compensation is for what I-500 calls, the LEAD PD (program/dev)

Thirdly, designing (assisting designing the game) development (OF SAID
GAME PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE) whether it entails C++, 3-D,animation (3d MAX SOFTWARE),
Frame rates,Real-time game engine,Modelling Acceleration and Velocity, Kinematics and Motion ControlCollision Detection and Response and animation tech., to name a few.

*Knowledge of current gaming programming, engines and formats.

The ad stated at the bottom: Ground floor- Website is in design. No it is not registered yet. The complete team is not in place yet. The project will move forward in March 2007.

I do hope I cleared all questions.

I've read over your posts a couple of times, and IMHO some additional clarification may be in order:

What do you mean by 'program'? A computer program? Or do you mean 'program' as in 'an organized plan with a specific goal'?

You mentioned having conferred with some technical people - it might be a good idea to have them look over your posts here and suggest ways you might make them more clear.

I'm reading this as 'you have funding, but the developer will receive no compensation until and unless revenue is generated'. Is that correct? What is the funding for exactly?

What do you mean by 'development of said programming language'?

This list is a bit puzzling from a technical point of view. Again, I'd recommend having your tech people help out with your posts here - I think it would save you time, and would increase your chances of attracting interested parties.

Thank you for your many replies. The requirements, experience and knowledge is correct as posted. I do apologize for our initial confusion. If you have experience in these areas there would be no further need of explaination. These programs and techniques are taught in the currect gaming industry. I assure you we are serious about what we are trying to do.

From some of the replies and the unprofessional comments made, ironically to your potential boss, if you were to be hired would not be in the best interest of I-500. We are looking for professional people who can be leaders. Unfortunately, we accessed a website that is lead by one with a division of followers.

Again, thank you for you assistance. Good luck in your futures.

Nobody made unprofessional comments, people tried to make you understand that it is difficult to understand text written in the style of a bot generated spam mail.

It is clearly that you, a CEO of a non-existing company, do not possess enough technical knowledge to create a proper recruitment post and to answer reasonable questions regarding the project.
Because of that issue jyk proposed to forward those questions to your technical department which should be able to answer them providing actually useful information.

the biggest thing for me is i don't understand what you mean by, "Need top notch game /Programmer/developer to design a program for exisiting or new video games". you say to design a program? but as jyk was saying, do you mean the programmed type program or an actual program (Ex. "I just joined the food for friends program"). if you mean the design of a game, like the creation of a design doc for the game development, this is called a "game designer". if you mean a computer program, do you mean tools development? game engine? the game code itself?
if it is a computer program then what programming language do you want the programmer do be fluent in? you are going to have a hard time finding a programmer 'completly' fluent in all languages.
as for this, "Frame rates,Real-time game engine,Modelling Acceleration and Velocity, Kinematics and Motion ControlCollision Detection and Response and animation tech., to name a few." from this list i gather you are wanting to make a program that works aside a realtime game engine that handles physics and animation? if this is the case then you should say so and eleborate on what exactly you're wanting to do.
no one has been unprofessional here (yet) however we're just trying to help you out, you use too general terminology and therefore are not very clear on what type of "developer" you need and what you want them to do.

Sorry, but no. It irritates me when someone pretends to be a professional in a forum where it's perfectly acceptable to simply present yourself as a hobbyist or independent developer.

Apart from perhaps the remark from Al-Omani noone has made any unprofessional comments in this thread except for you. Contrary to your apparent belief that an experienced developer would be capable of understanding, your requirements are not only unclear but are infact outright nonsensical. Whether this is simply a result of your unwillingness to communicate more properly with your technical department or (as I'm more inclined to believe) a result of the fact that you don't actually have a technical department, you've failed to make your requirements clear, and I assure you that if you are equally unclear when attempting to recruit elsewhere you will continue to be unable to find experienced helpers for your project.

Now, as to exactly what's giving the appearance that you're not really a professional?
  • You signed off one of your posts as follows:
    Quote:
    Innovations 500 ltd.
There is however no registered business of this name (or the name 'I-500') in the state of Texas, which is your listed location. Nor does there appear to be such a corporation registered anywhere else in the US after a casual investigation, and there are no registered Trademarks for either of those names. There are no relevent web-search results using those terms. If you're not yet a registered business that's perfectly fine, but passing yourself off as if you are is misleading and makes people distrustful.

  • You're using a free aol email address. No serious business person does this. Even if you havn't yet got a website prepared it wouldn't be uncommon to have already purchased the server or hosting account and domain so that you could use a proper email address.

  • The 'corrected' version of your requirements (supposedly provided by qualified technical personal - who incidentally are for some reason not listed in your team structure) doesn't actually make any sense; if anything it reads like a list of randomly selected terms related to the field of game development. The erratic capitalisation used further increases the appearance that the terms used have simply been cut&pasted from elsewhere. Far from being a list of requirements that are clear to an experienced developer they read more like a list of terms collected by a novice with little-to-no understanding of the field and communicate very little useful information to potential applicants.

Now, I'm closing this thread, and if you choose to instead attempt to recruit elsewhere you're perfectly welcome to do so and I wish you luck. You may however if you wish try again with another thread here - I suggest however that if as I (and I believe the others) suspect you are actually a hobbyist you drop the charade and simply be up-front about things, there's no shame in being someone who's just starting out.

If by some slim chance you really do own a business, I'd suggest you hire a PR consultant, because your own skills with communication are clearly insufficient. I'd also fire the technical consultant who gave you the revised information if there really is such a person, because it's pure nonsense clearly didn't come from anyone capable of contributing meaningfully to a game-developent business.
