Has anybody here tried coding in D yet? The syntax for it looks very clean, and much easier to work with than C++, and I was thinking of giving a try. But before I did, I wanted to know if anybody else had any experience with it. It claims to be able to integrate with C code, and since I'm planning on using SDL for my system interfacing that sounds like it should just work fine. Anybody have any experience with this yet? I know the langauge is fairly new, but any info would be great!

I've heard good things. A lot of Kenta Cho's games are built in it, I seem to recall.

I would recommend it. Linking with C is fairly easy, you need to convert the headers files for which there is a tool. It is not 100% automatic depending on if there are lots of macros in the headers. Check out dsource for a collection of open source libraries. Derelict may be especially useful, it has bindings for SDL, OpenGL, FreeType, OpenAl and Ogg / Vorbis.

Although D is young it is under development for about seven years now plus the backends of both existing compilers (DMC and GCC) are very mature. Version 1.0 is coming soon, which means a stable feature set for a while. Also keep an eye out on Tango, a framework / library that was announced a couple of days ago.

The spec on the digitalmars site, the wiki and the newsgroup are valuable sources of information.

EDIT: D 1.0 is here already, yay!
