Hello, I am currently trying to program a 3d editor (http://www.macrocosm.0rg.fr in French, sorry, but you can download it and try), and as I am reoptimizing my data structure, I wondered if I could think about multiresolution modeling as well. Here is my question: Let’s assume my program works as follows: I model a low poly model, and I want to add details: first, I use some subdivision algorithms (Catmull-Clark for example), then, I use some kind of brush to push or “draw” on my mesh some fine details. When I come back to the low-poly model, the modifications done are reflected in some way on the low poly model !!! Do you know how this is done ? Do you know articles or papers about that ? Other stuff : How is the data of each level stored ? Do I have to store each vertex position for each resolution level? Or does it exist algorithm to go easily from one level to another ? Thanks
