Discontent!

Aside from the "discontent!"
Someone further down suggested the idea of a progress indicator. I think that would be very valuable it is also very easy to implment just a little thing on the NeHe page that gives an idea of how much % of the current batch is complete, I believe even Irrlicht does this. It doesn't have to be updated a lot but every few milestones would be good. What is everyones thoughts?

Well, I can understand that the people out there are angry with ous being in progress for so long, but as you told them, we're not only working for NeHe but have other things to do..
The progress indicator might be a thread reserved for ous to post the new state but visible for the others or something like that..
And I liked the idea of kind of a nehe-wiki.
We planned to let everybody send ous new stuff and wanted to look at it before publishing, but we could be the team looking after the Wiki-content...? Less work in organizing for ous.
I'll see what I can do with finishing up lesson 5 within this week..

I think we really need to get some lesson text out there soon.
Looking at things realistically, we havn't had all that much trouble with pumping out some code, but I've yet to see a single lesson reach the review stage.
My suggestion is to forget all the fancy backends for the time being (with the exception that you should of course be coding with the fact that there will be different versions in mind), and get a single working version (preferably Win32 or something else that will run on Windows) of each lesson working, freeze that code, and write up the lesson text. We can come back and write the different back-ends and revise things slightly if neccesary at a later stage, but we're indefinitely stuck releasing nothing until there's at least a single working implementation and an acceptable explanation for the first batch of lessons.

A quick look at the wiki reveals that there is actually quite a bit of text already written for each lesson in the first batch except for lesson 3. The wiki also informs me that DevLiquidKnight and lc_overlord are the people I should be harassing about that - so get to it guys, or assign that one to someone else so we can get some text produced.
Try to get those 5 lessons to review stage sometime soon, we can always release all the different backends and whatnot at a later stage, but if we can just have those 5 completed with a single working implementation we'll be able to actually release something and quell the discontent for quite a while.
I'm setting aside an hour tomorrow to review the WIP text that's sitting on the wiki even though you havn't declared it complete yet - perhaps a concrete list of things to improve/add will help encourage some further activity.

I sent the first draft of lesson 3 to ravuya a while ago for some feedback, so within short i might be posting it on the wiki once i make some "adjustments".
Edit: adjusted and posted on the wiki.

I also believed rob loach was reviewing some content? Or at least once he has time?
