The Development Process

Original Post
Hi, I’m currently working on a game of my (chocking isn't it). Anyhow it’s a rather big project but it’s my first real attempt (all previous “unreal” attempts are collecting dust on the shelf). So your wondering where I’m going with this? Patience. So I’m working on this game and its killing me, ok seriously thought: I get stressed and anxiety when I think about the game. The lack of experience finishing a big game is a concern but to solve that I need to finish my game? (irony). What are your experiences? Have you seen the development process as a chore, and how did you turn it around (assuming its possible)? But mainly: How do you work on your project (how do you keep it fun/interesting)? By 'shore' do you mean 'chore'?
If that's the case, yes, that happens sometimes. My first real game I wanted to make was a racing game. Now, as a first game that was probably too big, but I really wanted to anyway. So when I started it was all kinds of fun and exciting to see the progress.
That slowed down after the first few months though. Then I had to start adding things I didn't account for (and because of my lack of experience, didn't really know how either), such as menues, sounds, etc. It became one tedious hack after another, I'd take months off at a time, but never 'putting it away for good'. Eventually (3 years) I did finish.
To prevent that from happening again (which it does) I no longer limit myself to one project at a time, sometimes other things sound more fun. I try making small games/demos in the meantime, such as space invaders, and some dumb side scrolling thing that isn't a game, and to make my life easier, I said it was done before it became a game.
And if you're like me, you'll probably find that not ALL aspects of game development are what you're interested in, so if you had a friend who could help I imagine that would help with that, as well as motivation. Otherwise, just power though it and get back to the fun stuff :).
And remember, you're making a game because you want to, just take your time and enjoy it.

Nice attitude. I get this sudden urge to answer your questions politely now

How would you have responded to tstrimp?
As for the “urge to answer my questions politely”, you do what ever you want.
