SDL Libraries?

Hello, I'm a C++ programmer completely new to graphics. I chose to learn SDL as a first graphics library because OpenGL looks too complicated + it doesn't handle input. My goal is to program some 2D games no more complicated than PacMan with SDL. What I've noticed from some of the tutorials on SDL is that it is C oriented, not c++. I don't imagine there is an object oriented implementation of the entire SDL library, but what I am looking for is some c++ libraries for drawing simple shapes like circles and squares. So far I've been able to blit bitmap images onto a SDL_Surface, and my first immediate question is how do you round out a square bitmap image? So if I had a beachball and I wanted to move it around the screen, how would I make it just the beachball without the square frame around it? (Besides making the background of the screen match the background of the beachball) Also, please post url's to any excellent SDL tutorials. Thanks!

Take a look at the SDL entry in this thread for all the information you need [wink] SDL_draw is what you will be needing for primitives. For images, take a look at Lazy Foo's tutorials or the Cone3D tutorial site. That link has it all! Good luck.

I would use SDL_image to load in a gif with a transparent background.
As for tutorial, Lazy Foo has good tutorials (he shows how to set up the libraries and using SDL ).

slymrHopefully game is in progress.
