Been working on perlin noise and clouds for some time now, but i just cant seem to get it to look good. Anyone have some sort of trick to make it look better ? I tryed out diffrent texture sizes for the "base" noise, but got almost the same result. Below is the image made by the following shader code (noise texture = 32x32) :
float4 PShader_Cloud_2x(VS_OUTPUT i) : COLOR
{
float4 o;
float n;
n = tex2D(noise, i.tc);
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*2)*0.5;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*4)*0.25;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*8)*0.125;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*16)*0.0625;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*32)*0.03125;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*64)*0.015625;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*128)*0.0078125;
n += tex2D(noise, i.tc*256)*0.00390625;
float f = (n*255) - 220;
if (f < 0) f = 0;
o.a = (255 - (pow(0.97,f)*255)) * 0.00390625;
o.rgb = (o.a, o.a, o.a);
return o;
}
