intelliTXT Ads

I don't like them. First, they clutter up my screen. The green text and double underline is annoying enough, what with the hideous color combinations it often creates, but I'm also affronted by several overly large popout windows when I do something as simple as run my mouse across the page. Second, you can't turn them off. intelliTXT claims that you can, and I have gone through the process several times, but it simply doesn't work. And yes, I have cookies enabled. Third - these links are almost never useful to me (or to almost anyone), and there is often no tie in with the words that get linked: (There were several unusual ads in this particular instance including advertisements for "Wedding Bubbles", and I screenshotted two of them.) That said, I'd be thrilled if there was a way to replace this ad revenue on GDNet - of course, I don't know how much it raises. As far as remedies... Does GDNet+ remove intelliTXT ads as well as normal advertisements? And Gamedev certainly isn't the only site that uses intelliTXT. Is there a way I can remove intelliTXT ads for all sites?
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.

GDNet+ does indeed get rid of the intelliTXT but you still get other banner adverts. However they aren't the same adverts that non-GDNet+ people get, they are all Game Development related (Game Institure and Garage Games ...things like that).

As for disabling all those things ...there are probably plugins for your browser that block ads altogether, but it would be hardly fair on GameDev's staff for me to promote them as it would be promoting removal of one of their main streams of revenue. [smile]

So my vote goes to (re)joining us in GDNet+, it is your destiny! [disturbed]

All the best,
