Is this a new confirmation of indie dev on the wii? Or is this old news? From source: "Curious as to what he may have meant by that, CVG contacted Nintendo and got this response: "Nintendo has developed a programming system that will allow small independent developers to make games for Wii download service." I think developing small time original games for the Wii would be a good time, especially if the distribution set-up is convenient. I assume the Wii hardware SDK would be required, and I recall rumors of this being around $2000. Is this still 'true'?

For indie developers I'm pretty sure it'll be much less. I'd guess $200 or much less. Again I guess. Other than that, I think it's a confirmation of indie dev on the Wii. Hooray!

Considering Nintendo track record with their platforms, I highly doubt it'll be any more open than the XBox Live Arcade. Probably just the same, an alternative stream of 'cheap' games that get submitted, which Nintendo can reject or accept.

Would be a pleasant surprise but I wouldn't count on it. I'd like to see them tackle XNA.

damn you're right. I thinking some sort of XNA/XBA hybrid in my head. It will most likely be a XBA setup. Though it would be sooooo cool if they had a XNA setup. Oh well.
