Hello, I've always thought Myspace was for 14 year old schoolkids, but I'm wondering now, can it be used for networking while keeping a professional imago? I highly doubt it, but I'm wondering if anyone can prove me wrong. Does anyone here use it?

No.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My signature, without me, is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.

Absolutely not... that is what the site LinkedIn is for.

Professional? Nope.

But I do use it, to keep in touch with a lot of my friends that went off to different colleges.

I think it's possible in artsy fields (ie look at Dane Cook), but outside I'm not sure if myspace is the best place to be identified.

It's a social networking site that lots of people use. It's useful to keep in touch with people, etc. I resisted for a long time, but I have one and I use it frequently.

I use it to promote myself for stuntwork as well as keep in touch with distant friends and I've even gotten back in touch with a lot of old high-school classmates. It definetly has its uses for certain fields (like stunting), but don't bother trying to use it for game dev, in addition to LinkedIn you should be looking into GGE

Any professionalism in the site would be negated by negative connotations many people (justifiably) hold against Myspace.

What I mean is that a site on a reputable/professional service or a well designed independent page would probably be taken more seriously than the same page hosted on Myspace.

Just my 2 cents worth, though. I'd imagine that it'd also be determined somewhat by the individual who makes the site and the target audience.

I use myspace alot, however it's only for 'social networking' and not professional networking and I certainly wouldn't use it for that.

Tons of musicians use it successfully as a business tool, plus Tom gets tons of advertising dollars from large companies.

It's entertainment first, but there's definitely a vein of business running through it.

As far as networking with professionals...I'd say stay away from Myspace. It's more about building hype for yourself.
