FreeType Problem

For my gui library i am using freetype for the fonts. I have downloaded and distributed with my gui library distribution the developer files zip for FreeType. In that zip is all the headers and all the .libs. On my PC i have had it working for some time and had my test application rendering perfectly with it and no problems at all. Now i have downloaded my project from svn to my laptop and built everything in the same way with everything being the same versions and for some reason when i run my gui test application it says it is missing freetype6.dll and zlib1.dll. There has been no previous mention of these libraries in the docs i have read, not did i need these files when i built and used it on my pc, so i dont know why i need them now. All google returns is a list of where i can download just the dlls, from some dlldump.com or somewhere, and "freetype6.dll site:www.freetype.org" returns nothing. Has anyone else had this or have any suggests about how to resolve this? I *could* just download them and put them next to the exe but that is not acceptable, i want to know why this is coming up and cant find anything on it. Thanks, Dave

Have you checked your exe using depends? (dependencywalker.com) It could be that those dlls were dropped into your system directory making it appear as if the app didn't need them when it really did.

That *could* be the case, but i cant see how really because i didnt ever install those. I downloaded the developer files zip on both machines and that doesnt install anything, just contains headers and .libs, though i will try that app.

Both those dll's are in zips (binaries and dependencies) on the freetype sourceforge page here (you most probably already knew this but just in case [smile]).
So I'd do a search on your desktop machine and see if they are in a location that is part of your PATH (maybe at some stage something installed them into windows or system32 folder or something).

Best of Luck,

Ok so i thought what you said might have been the case, but it isnt. I can download my distribution and build properly and have everything working without FreeTyp6.dll existing on my pc, however on my XP laptop the example application wont work unless it exists...
