does anyone know of a good free/open source lib i can use to add python or ruby script to a game. I'd prefer ruby but since a lot of the ruby library's i'v looked through are still betaish python is ok. Reasonable execution speed(close to that of the normal standalone python/ruby interpreter) is also a plus as id like export a lot of game logic to it.

Are there any reasons you wouldn't use the original Ruby interpreter for ? It's very easy to embed so you won't really need any other libraries.

Some good tutorials are:
Programming Ruby
Embedding Ruby

Using these tutorials together you should be able to pull it off. I did it myself as well and it worked out fine.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pingux/ <-- you know you wanna see my 2D Engine which supports DirectX and OpenGL or insert your renderer here :)
