Right now I have two bugs in my code which have been hindering me for many days. It is giving me destructive tendencies toward my monitor. I dream of tearing it from this cluttered desk and hurling it into the wall. Of ravenously bashing it with an aluminum ball bat. I want to literally drop kick it against cement. Can anyone else relate to that level of frustration? It's like blowing off steam, and it's funny since it's the monitor, not the beloved computer.

I get filled with murderous rage when I become that frustrated as well. There are many holes in the wall to corroborate that.

This justifies that quote I heard a while back:

"Size is the most important thing when it comes to computers. You'll want it to be big enough that you can't fit it out the window, which is what you'll want to do at least 3 times a day."

I still have the shattered, twisted remains of a Linksys wireless router that crapped out on me. It dropped the network so frequently that I literally put it on the street and stomped it until pieces started flying off it. Then I took it back inside and stabbed it with a screwdriver for a few minutes, and tore off as many of the ICs as I could with a pair of pliers.

There's a literal dent in the wall shaped like one of the antennas from that router. The funny thing is, that dent got put into the wall after the antenna in question bounced off two separate parts of my sofa - that's how hard I threw it. (It's an ugly mark but a great conversation piece.)

I highly recommend destruction; it's immensely therapeutic. After that spree I replaced the router with a D-Link model, bought an extended cable so I could mount the wireless antenna in a better spot, and now I enjoy spotless wireless connectivity. My attitude towards wireless technology has made radical shifts since that day.

Next time a piece of kit dies on me, I'm borrowing a shotgun from a friend of mine and blasting the hell out of it.

To do it properly you're going to need the right tools.

I buy a new keyboard every month, because i smashed the old one in pieces. It can do a lot of good to vent your frustration towards your computer through the input device you use most to communicate with it. It's not that expensive either. Just buy a couple of stock 5$ keyboards - they're only gonna last a month, no need for quality - and go to town with 'm.
