I have spent all day on the OGRE 3D forums and the Irrlicht forums trying to figure out how to get their engines Setup on my mac OS X. I was wondering if anyone here has had any better experiences with these engines in OSX. I have also tried crystalspace and it is the only engine I could get to compile today but all my demos crash after they exit so its not very stable for me and I dont think is suits my "space fighter" game needs. If anyone knows any cross platform open source game engine that wont give me as much trouble in OS X as these three please let me know. thanx in advance, Boomba

I use Irrlicht myself. For me, with Visual Studio 2005, it compiles straight out of the box...but on windows. It should work on the MAC though. Post in the forums since other users have macs as well. i think it will probably be the easiest to get to compile, and it will suited fine for your space shooter game.

OGRE works fine on my Macbook Pro, and the examples don't crash when I'm exiting them. What version of OGRE are you using? How are you building it? Have you got the OGRE pre-requisite libraries for Mac OS X installed?

I'm working with Ogre on my Macbook too. Which problems do you have? Maybe we can lend you a hand.

hi gusy thanx for your help....I actually found a solution.

For Mac Users compiling OGRE 3D with XCode: DO NOT get the source from the downloads page. Instead follow the instructions on the site to download the latest source in their CVS. and there should be a better updated .xcodeproj file that should compile on the first try :)

thanx again guys I'm still new to this but I finally picked my engine :)

Yeah, CVS is generally a good idea, though I remember I got mine from the Downloads page and built it with Xcode. I figured that maybe you missed the pre-requisite libraries or something.

I pulled down the latest version of Irrlicht last night on my MBP with subversion and got the static library to compile. However, when I try to build the examples or create my own by following a tutorial I found, I always get link errors. Has anybody else had this problem with Irrlicht on OSX?
