I found some DirectX tutorials but I wish to have a better one. Can anyone share some with me? Programming DirectX Tutorials. With a goal of making games in a near future. Thanks [Edited by - neob on February 25, 2007 4:02:26 PM]

I've found that pretty much all of the DirectX tutorials (and most of the books) are of low quality. You're best bet is to read the documentation included with the SDK and play around with the samples. Only use a tutorial to get a very quick overview of things.

What part of DirectX? That's like saying you want "programming tutorials"...

I agree that you should read the DirectX documentation, but you should definitely stay FAR away from the DirectX samples as a beginner. They're overly bloated, teach bad programming habis all throughout, and rely on custom microsoft code (namely DXUT) that hides functionality you should learn. Instead, I suggest a website like CodeSampler for implementations. The code isn't perfect, but at least it's a lot cleaner and easier to understand.

As Evil Steve said the topic is a bit broad because there is a graphics, input and sound (and show) part of directx. However, you are probably looking for graphics tutorials in which case I would recommend toymaker for tutorials because it has very good ones from beginner tutorials to advanced ones. And as skittleo said, the samples can be incredibly hard to understand but you may find some of them helpful.

Thank you all. And yep I'm trying to stay away from code until I get a better understanding.

there is no better way to learn than to jump straight into the code and start getting some objects on the screen.

I'm not saying not to get some theory straight, that's top priority, but do it as you are coding and learning.

That's my 2 cents ;)

PS: Have fun.
