Hi Guys, Been watching this forum, but didn't see much activity on this subject, so I posted in the noob section ;) My Original post in noob section Having problems with Hexagon tiling and need some tips. I have read a few articles and a few on DirectX, but I am building my engine in OpenGL from scratch, So trying not to use any 3rd party libraries and stuff. So if anyone could spot my problem at the above link, or point me in the direction of a good OpenGL tutorial on the subject would be great. Since this is the backbone of the tiling engine, I need to get this right. I'll be ok with the rest of the world stuff and movement I'm sure ;-) Cheers guys

Woohoo,.

Almost fixed this issue, with some help of some awsome people.

Hopefully a working platform soon, and I'll be sharing the source code.

I'll update this thread, and post the source soon, but for those how want to read more of the saga, visit the link in the above post.

As I started this in the 'beginners forum'

Thanks to all that helped

Pretty cool. I'm workign on a hex-based game too. I actually envisioned a much larger project involving mapping a hexagonal grid on a sphere(see my post history) , and modelling the entire world, but as I tried to drill down I encountered alot of theoretical and practical problems. For right now I'm doing a simple 2D project in Java :-) When its done I'll move on the larger project.
