As far as favorite threads go, mine have always been the text adventure ones and similar, such as JBourrie's 'The Fantastic Adventures of MSPaintman!'. :)

Most memorable Lounge threads? I've only been hanging around here for a couple of years, but here's what I dredge from my memory:

1. GDNet: The Trading Card Game from back before when I was a golden named GDNet+ member. Taught me a lot about all the wacky memes running in this place [smile]
   
2. The Guess the Game threads: especially this guess the game from the picture one, where I was bored and ended up making a dozen of the things in a paint program I wanted to try out.
   
3. Dinosaurs and Evangelism: One of the all time longest threads, this one was running all through the month I was studying in Europe back until when I was here in Australia. Memorable for both irritating the hell out of me and the trigger to cause me to shift towards atheism (not kidding about this). Also was one of the ones that caused the lockdown on religious discussions in the Lounge [smile]

While I'm posting, I suppose I could list a couple of other 'great' Lounge threads!

Heh, that trading card one is certainly one of my favourites.

I've been crap-posting in the Lounge for a long time; I'll have to think long and hard about which threads were the best.

Some randomly picked "olde style" threads that I liked:

1. The "Resist X" fun (of course, now all the banners are broken, so look them up here)
2. Old-style mod drama
3. OpenGL vs. nes8bit
4. The 100,000th post in the lounge
• Interestingly, we can extrapolate that every five years, the Lounge grows 10x. (Ravuya's Law of Crap Posting?)

This was a long, long time ago. Wow. I was, er, quite the nub.

If we were to extend this to all forums, then the classic "End Goblin Genocide" game design thread would be number one for me, back when just found GameDev.Net and was merely lurking in the shadows (2001, I think). Sadly I think it no longer exists, so I can't link to it, but from memory it was very thought provoking.

Wow, 1 million posts. That's a lot of hours wasted that could have been spent doing something productive. Good times.

The aforementioned "GDNet: The Trading Card Game" thread is probably my fave. That one was funny.

One of my favorite lounge posts (that hasn't been mentioned yet, I don't think anything can top the GDNet card game): trees.

There was one thread that got so long that it literally broke the forums. The tread was deleted so that order could be restored. This thread was called "HITLER == JESUS" (IIRC).

I remember when sometimes if a thread got really long the posts would jump locations.
