Hello everybody. I've been browsing this board for awhile now, working on my art, programming, and writing skils in the process. Now, I think I have an idea for a game. I'd like to ask what you think I should do. I've already started with my design document, and have been meddling with some concept art ideas. Now should I continue with this, and even start a little demo, or should I finish up my design document and art and ask for some real programming work on the Help Wanted Forum? I don't want to create a bad demo that doesn't get the point accross just because I'm not an expert at programming. Let me give thanks in advance to anyone that replies.

Hello, and welcome to GameDev.net!

I'd continue with the concept art and game design for a little while until the style and mechanics of your game are worked out. Once you have that, design your code base, and then you could throw together a simple demo yourself and ask for "real programming" help then - a working demo will show others that you have already dedicated an exceptional amount of time to your project and may be more willing to help you out. If you have trouble putting that demo together, you can always come back and ask questions.

Best of luck in your game development endeavours!

Hello and welcome.

Introductions usually go into the lounge so I'm moving your post there. [smile]

Thanks LessBread. I wasn't really sure where to put it, and I'm sure I'll probably get more replies in the lounge anyway. :)

No matter what, I'm still going to keep on with the design. Since my game doesn't *really* need 3D to work, I can probably throw together a quick little demo showing off the concepts using pyGame/SDL/whatever.
