I just got killed on my Algorithms midterm. I'm heading to the library to decompress. I need titles of pulpy, enjoyable novels ASAP. Preferably not TOO puply (Dragonlance, I'm looking at you).

Oh, God, the years I spent reading Dragonlance...

Weis and Hickman were the only ones who wrote anything worth a damn in that universe. I thought their "Death Gate Cycle" was pretty good, but my memory's fuzzy on them, since I last read them in high school. The first one's called "Dragon Wing".

If you like the fantasy vein, though, try to track down "The Misenchanted Sword". I read it many years ago, and found it to be a welcome change from the standard tolkien ripoff fantasy world.

Damnit Sneftel, I was trying to forget about that algorithms homework (CSE 320) I have due tomorrow but you just had to remind me! [smile]

I second the Death Gate Cycle. One of my favorite fantasy series
"Game Programming" in an of itself does not exist. We learn to program and then use that knowledge to make games.

I nominate American Gods and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman.

edit: I wouldn't call them pulpy, but they were definitely enjoyable. Anansi Boys takes place after the events of American Gods, but the two stories are completely independent and share very few characters, so read them in either order.

Neal Stephenson's Diamond Age !

More seriously, Why not anything by Stephen King or Tom Clancy for a simple, non-cerebral entertainment ?
I teleported home one night; With Ron and Sid and Meg; Ron stole Meggie's heart away; And I got Sydney's leg. <> I'm blogging, emo style

I've read American Gods, Anansi Boys, and Diamond Age. (I've pretty much tapped out Gaiman and Stephenson.) Along those lines, though.

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far.
